Michelle Reichert is the author of The Adventures of Gefilda Fische, a fantasy novel inspired by Jewish folklore and the mischievous idea that ancient myths may still be hiding just beneath the surface of modern life.
After spending more than three decades in the St. Louis area, Michelle and her family recently relocated to the Portland region. Her lifelong interest in storytelling, mythology, and Jewish culture eventually led her to create Gefilda Fische—a stubborn, sharp-witted religious school teacher who secretly protects her community from demons drawn from ancient Jewish folklore.
Michelle writes stories that blend adventure, humor, and heart, celebrating both the magic of mythology and the warmth of everyday Jewish life. Through Gefilda’s adventures she hopes readers will discover a world where community matters, ancient stories still have power, and even the most ordinary places may hide extraordinary secrets.
When she’s not writing, Michelle enjoys exploring folklore traditions, developing new stories in the world of Gefilda, and working on companion projects that expand the mythology behind the series.
